Your dream life...
How you MAY create your dream life…
May is my birthday month and for me it’s my new year, resolutions, mood board & goal setting time.
It’s the start of my next chapter, so I thought we could do this together like we are real life besties and take some time to imagine our dream life.
So find a space that is peaceful to you where you can take a moment, you can do this in the bath, walking, driving a car and write it down after or maybe you are sitting with a fluffy blanket in your favourite spot.. or you are like me and are currently writing in your garden on a lovely warm day with the birds chirping & your fave playlist on in the background.
Take a deep breath… and start to picture your dream life in 5 years time.
Piece by piece think about what it’s like. What is your vision? What does it look like?
Can you see yourself in this picture? Can you see yourself living your life as if it’s a movie or documentary style film?
Where are you in the world?
Who are you with? Who do you spend time with?
What type of house do you live in? What is it like inside?
What car do you drive? bike do you ride? maybe you have a driver?
Where do you work? How much money do you make? Who do you help?
What is your lifestyle? What do you do everyday? How do you dress? How do you look? How happy are you? How fulfilled are you? Do you have an alarm waking you up? do you wake up excited for life?
What do you do for fun? What are your hobbies?
Where do you go on holiday & how many times do you go a year?
How is your health? What do you eat? How you feel?
Start visualising all these things as if they are on the big screen, like it is being projected so big you can almost walk into it, look at it in full colour, it is so clear that you can almost feel it, touch it, smell it and hear everything that’s going on. It is so real to you that that it feels as though it’s a part of you already, you know how it feels to live this life and you want it forever. Get as specific as you can, the more details the brighter the vision. Note every single detail you can.
Now as you take another breath…
Start coming out of this dream life scenario, letting go of the smells, the noises, the visuals, the beautiful home and the people that will fill it with you. The great job / business that fills you up everyday to the point that it never really feels like work. Let it all go…
Now imagine what your life will look like in 5 years time if you carry on as you are and ask yourself all of those questions again? How does it feel?
It’s okay if you are currently looking at your life as you are now and feeling content with how things are. It is also okay if you are looking at your life and wanting to make changes, and if you are thinking holy crap I want a life overhaul then you go girl!
The first time I did this exercise it blew my mind and made me think about what I really wanted, how I wanted to live and spend my short time on this earth & who I want to spend it with.
What’s next….
Once I have done this visualisation I then go to Pinterest and create myself a may board *usually a secret board just for me* and pin like crazy all the visuals I can find that make up my dream life, you can create a Mood-board / screensaver of this if you want a daily reminder, maybe print out some pics and add it to your noticeboard or diary… whatever suits you.
and then most importantly
Grab a pen paper or your notes app and start mapping out the details of those dreams. How are you going to achieve them? How much is it going to cost to live this dream? What is your first step? What do you need to do each week, month, quarter and year to achieve each of these things, what income do you need to make?
What are your plans for making this happen? What can you do today to move that needle towards your dream life? What changes do you have to make?
Task yourself to check in regularly so you can track where you are and tweak as you go along.
In doing this exercise you can see exactly where you are going and now you have a goal plan too make this happen. Even if you land somewhere near your goal it’s proof that you can make it happen, along the way as you tick off each goal or milestone, your endgame may look different to what you set out with and that’s absolutely fine too. We are not tree’s we do not need to be still with what we want.
However your dream life looks for you, I hope you get to live it and more.
With Love
Jen, @ HOW x
